All of us at The Swag are beyond joyful to hear the wonderful news that Kevin has been found alive! We rejoice for the Lynch family and thank God for answering the prayers of thousands hoping for Kevin’s safe return. We wish Kevin and his family all the best in the coming days, weeks, and years. Seeing the strength of Kevin’s wife this past week has been truly amazing. She is a remarkable woman.
We have also been in awe of the response from the National Park Service, the Haywood County Sheriff’s Office, and the many other organizations and volunteers from North Carolina and Tennessee (and other states) that participated in the search and rescue. Seeing these brave men and women on top of Gooseberry Knob filled us with gratitude and confidence that the search would continue until Kevin was found. It also made all of us deeply thankful and proud to be Americans (and in Haywood County). To the hundreds of men and women who participated in these efforts, to the National Park Service that led the efforts, and to the dozens of The Swag’s immediate neighbors who helped, we say, “Thank you!”
Before dinner for much of the past week, we have read Psalm 121 before dinner. It reads, in part, “I lift my eyes to the hills. From where does my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made Heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved; he who keeps you will not slumber.” We believe those words were true before Kevin was found and are just as true now!
We, along with The Swag staff, rejoice at this wonderful news for the Lynch family, and we are thankful to have a God who does not slumber and who saves the lost.
